Following are the directions for applying to take dual credit classes for next year. (If you have taken dual credit you do not need to do the following steps.)
1. Apply through
www.applytexas.org Choose a 2 year college application. (This is new!)
2. Select Amarillo College as your first option.
3. Your first choice major will be Undecided or Non degree seeking.
4.Choose make my information available to my high school counselor.(This gives me permission to help in case of problems with registration.)
5. Your admission basis is "Dual Credit"
6. Your reason for attending is "To earn credit for transfer"
7. Record your username and password somewhere where you will remember ie. in your cell phone.
I will send in all student's TAKS scores for anyone who selected Dual Credit on their choice sheet. I will also send home a letter to parents stating when I will be available to give the placement test for students who weren't exempt based on TAKS scores.
You won't acutally register for the classes until August. At that time I will have course numbers for you to use when enrolling.
Fianlly, just because you fill out the application does not in anyway commit your child to taking dual credit classes. It is a step that will help speed up the pocess this August when it is time to enroll.
